History of the Zine:
This zine is about to celebrate its 5TH anniversary!!! It was originally published in english as a fanzine when I was a big fan of the band MOIST (Issues #1 to #5).
It then became one of the very rare publications to have changed language of publication when my love of the band and the band's career itself sort of dried up and I started using the zine as a french-language archive of parties and stuff my friends and I were doing. It was then a "private zine" (Issues #6 and #7) which I only offered to my friends (I had subscribers during the MOIST-fan era).
Then as years went by I found out stuff happened in my life which could possibly interest people and I had a lot to say! I decided to make my zine available to the public again in 2001 (starting issue #8).
Now that we are approaching our 5th anniversary I am interested and involved in my zine more than ever!!!!! I love publishing it and I have decided since french-speakers ARE a minority on this side of the ocean to start doing an ENGLISH EDITION starting with the last issue, #11 which came out in April 2003. So basically now I put out each issue in french first, and then the english edition comes out about 2 weeks later. Both issues have the same articles and layout, excepts a few untranslatables and reader letters, and the cover color is different. This is a lot of work to translate a whole zine and I hope people will appreciate the effort!!!
PLEASE NOTE that the zine will always be published in french first! The english version is a TRANSLATION! It will be exactly the same word-by-word with the same layout. The only difference will be a slight difference in the shade of the color cover and the reader letters printed in their respective languages' issue. Contributions will be printed integrally in their original language and translated by me in the other version. (I am 100% bilingual)
Ingleside News has gone from full-size to a new, more practical HALF-LEGAL FORMAT with issue #11.
My zine is well laid-out in an easy to read manner with pictures, lots of different fonts, typed on the computer with a good measure of ol' fashion cut'n'paste. It is black & white xeroxed with a one-color cover. So it's old-school without looking crappy. So far I've got only good reviews but since it was only in french very few places actually took the time to review it so it is not very well known yet.
Spread the word!!!! Request a copy / propose a trade NOW!
Also: this LJ is more of a logbook and a way of keeping track of the zine's things for me, that's why i disallowed the comments. You can check here to see if I received your payment, sent out your trade, etc, but mostly if an issue came out I'll post it in the zine communities. To order e-mail me or send the money right ahead.
